Refund Policy.

Donations are gifts, so they're normally final — but here's exactly when and how we make things right.

Effective date: 21 August 2026

If something has gone wrong with a payment, email us first. We'd much rather fix it directly than have you go through your bank.

Scope

This Refund Policy applies to all donations and payments made to CITEA (Community Innovation, Technology and Education Advancement). It explains our rules for refunds, chargebacks and cancellations.

General principle

All donations are voluntary gifts. Once a donation is completed it is final and non-refundable, except as described below. We make no promise of goods or services in return for a donation — every gift goes toward CITEA's mission.

Unauthorised payments

CITEA uses secure payment processors. If you believe a transaction on your card was unauthorised — fraud or a mistaken charge — contact us immediately at hello@citeaimpact.com. We will investigate and, if the charge was unauthorised or an error on our part, issue a refund within the timelines below.

Duplicate payments

If you accidentally donate more than intended (for example by clicking twice), let us know within 30 days by emailing hello@citeaimpact.com. We will verify the transactions and can refund the duplicate amount, minus any incurred fees, at our discretion.

Recurring donations

You may cancel or change a recurring donation at any time by contacting hello@citeaimpact.com. Cancelling stops future charges but does not automatically refund past donations. For a refund on a recent recurring payment, see the unauthorised and duplicate payment terms above.

Non-refundable fees

  • Payment processing fees: charges levied by your bank, card issuer or the payment provider are non-refundable by CITEA. If we issue a refund, the provider may still retain its original processing fee.
  • Service fees: fees charged for a delivered service (for example event registration) are generally non-refundable once the service has been delivered.

Rare exceptions

On rare occasions CITEA may consider a refund outside the cases above — for example if a promised project is cancelled entirely, or in extenuating personal circumstances. Such refunds are at CITEA's sole discretion and are issued only after investigation, via the original payment method or bank transfer. Any refund may be reduced by unavoidable fees.

How to request a refund

Email hello@citeaimpact.com with the subject line "Refund Request" and include your name, contact information, donation date and amount, and the reason for the request. We aim to respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days, depending on your payment provider, and we will notify you once complete.

Cancellation of services

If you paid for a specific service such as a CITEA workshop, that event page may carry its own cancellation policy. We generally do not refund event fees after the stated deadline, but we will consider crediting you toward a future event if you give sufficient notice.

Failed and disputed payments

If a payment fails (for example insufficient funds or a declined card), no money is debited and no action is needed. If you see a charge you did not make, contact your bank or card provider and inform us at hello@citeaimpact.com.

Chargebacks

Initiating a chargeback instead of contacting us can cause delays. Please work with us directly. CITEA reserves the right to contest unfounded chargebacks with evidence such as receipts and transaction records.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund Policy at any time. Changes are posted on our website and the effective date above is updated.
